Find the main valve — usually in the basement near the front wall — and turn it clockwise until it stops.
Open the lowest faucet in the house and a few upper ones to release pressure and drain remaining water from the lines.
If water is near outlets, fixtures, or the panel, kill that circuit at the breaker. Don't step into standing water near live electrical.
Take wide and close-up photos and videos of the damage before cleanup. Your insurer will need them, and we'll use them too.
